for Food and Wine Lovers

Livio and Kathrin, Italian and Austrian, both graduated at the Slow Food University of Gastronomic Sciences in Piedmont. After some 15+ years spent traveling the world, we finally moved to Puglia in 2009 where we live with our two daughters, a fantastic view over the sea and a bumper love for every corner of the region.

We embrace three guiding principles:

Unique Professional Design

Specific requests, simple inspirations or feature stories are all dealt the same to begin with by listening to our client first when designing any tour. Whatever subjects - be cooking, wine tasting, local culture – we treat every request, every client and every tour as unique; what is communal are enthusiasm and effort to make it a matchless (hassle-free) experience

Common Sense with High Standards

We take hospitality very seriously and people’s time in high consideration. For this reason we support our client throughout the planning and play along with him from beginning to end with promptness and flexibility. The high level of services and standards we provide clients with is the same we would apply for family and friends: this is our simple rule of common sense.

SN(A)IL Quality Concept

Seasonal, Natural, Individual, Local.
We believe quality lays in people’s mind and sustainability being more than certifications. For this reason we dedicate extreme care to the selection of hosts and food artisans interacting with only the most genuine ambassadors of local customs and foodways. Eating seasonal, drinking natural wines, touring individually and living like locals, are our final and only take on quality.

Livio Colapinto

I was born in Northern Italy, Turin, with Apulian roots and great passion for my mother and grandmothers' kitchens. At 8 I was cooking my first meal for the family and since then I have never stopped searching for the best foods.

After my engineering studies and some ten years of finance between London, Zurich and Tokyo I returned to origins, studied food communication at Slow Food University and worked with its president, Carlo Petrini. Eating and travelling are between the most social things one can do and that explains how I made my way to hospitality.

Today I am marketing and tourism consultant, private culinary guide and passionate chef. When I plan Zest of Italy tours with my wife Kathrin I bring together my fellow travellers with my favourite food artisans in experiences that never fail to meet hopes and expectations.

Kathrin Fehérváry Colapinto

I grew up in a 200 year-old farmhouse in Styria, southeastern Austria. My parents own a small-scale biodynamic farm where we have cultivated fruits and vegetables for the last 30 years transforming them for family use.

After my A-levels, I specialized in Tourism and Management in school, followed by 2 years of work experience on cruise ships. During my undergraduate studies in Business Management in London, I rediscovered my love for food and wine thanks to La Fromagerie, a local cheese shop. After a few years of learning how to age cheeses, I decided to do a second degree at the Slow Food University of Gastronomic Sciences.

This is where I met my husband Livio and opened the tour operator, Zest of Italy, in 2009. Over the last 15 years I have been realizing in my passion for natural winemaking and travelled extensively to learn about the best interpreters of "terroir wines".

Simone Pozzo

Born in Ivrea, a lively city surrounded by the Alps in the northwest region of Piedmont, I have been running the family-owned jewellery, fourth generation in the trade, for the last two decades.

Beside diamond and watches - and outside my studio - my true passions and loves are running, travelling, Bruce Springsteen and the Carnival. In my other career I have mastered the skills of organising and managing outdoor events, TV shows and extreme sports competitions and finally, for the last 12 years, I have been leading groups of music and sport lovers to some of the most exciting events both in Europe and in USA.

I'm a professional runner with a score of 11 full-marathons, five of which in NY, and some hundreds of minor ones where I also prepare and accompany my fellow runners in every phase prior, during and after the competition. With Kathrin and Livio, I envision bringing our guests to experience life and travels at full zest… better with some comfortable running shoes and a big smile on the face!
